Way back in the first week of May... we signed away our Summer.
Before you are even considered for an All-Star team you have to COMMIT, in writing. When you throw down your signature you approve to six days a week / 3 hours a day + games.
The commitment is no joke.
It's a real honor to be chosen... in his case, voted in by his division. I was nervous for him, I couldn't help it. He's one of the youngest with only 1 year of AAA experience.
Wouldn't you know... he's doing just fine:
:: We are now into week 4 of All-Stars ::
During practice, we watch and lots of Dads help. It's like the summer baseball camp I failed to sign him up for - only better. Daily practices are planned out with stations, charts, schedules and timelines.
There are seriously about 17 assistant coaches. When the sun is shining and Sydney isn't whining about how hungry she constantly is, the 3 hours goes by rather quickly (well-oiled even).
Practice is different from a game situation. So two weeks ago the Manager signed them up for a tournament at Big League Dreams. They won 4 straight games and came in 1st place...
It's hard to believe these boys are just 9 and 10 years old. The way they throw the ball around, pitch and hit SO hard and keep going day after day, it's impressive.
They genuinely all get along too... I love that.
They have played 2 games in the All-Star brackets so far - winning both. They face their toughest competition this weekend. I'm excited, anxious, nervous...
But what do we tell the kids???
'Go out there - Do your best - and have fun.'
I know they will.
We are so proud of you Luke.
