With my two hands

The other day we went to that quilt show.

We talked to one lady about her huge beautiful hand quilted blanket.

I asked her how long it took her to finish...

4 YEARS

 

I realized it's never too late to finish up those half-started projects.

That was all the inspiration I needed...

[ I started these 2 blankets months ago.  I drew the designs out on graph paper, colored in my blocks and calculated all the measurements.  I chose my fabrics, cut most of the squares and then I stopped.  Lost steam. ]

A couple days after the show I opened up my project drawer. 

There they were...

I finished them BOTH and shipped out my belated  *SURPRISE*  within two days.

Sure, it's easy to give some lame excuse -

'I knew you'd need these when the weather turned chilly so I didn't send them in the spring/summer when your baby was born'.

 

 

I was just a slacker. 

I'm happy they are done and can be loved on properly. 

It never gets old to watch the materials and squares transform with a purpose.

I love sewing

  

She grew again.

Stuck on Pancakes

Since returning with a fresh supply of pancakes capable of putting me in a carb-comma...  I've had the opportunity to get creative.  

Today we had cinnamon pancakes for lunch.

Why Yes - those are real bursts of cinnamon goodness

 

The Ultimate Combo:

Flaky Cinnamon Cakes - Whipped Cream - Real Maple Syrup - Fresh Sliced Banana

Wouldn't it be yummy to layer different fruit in each layer - banana, kiwi etc.  

Oh goodness - just thought about the Criminal Chocolate Chip ones layered with strawberries... that may be dinner.

My plants and flowers are still alive. 

They are still green, healthy looking, blooming and giving me hope...

Sydney opted out of cereal this morning for a tiny red baked potato.

Lo-and-Behold

My 'no-nap girl' actually took a nap today.  She curled up there on the arm of the couch and just passed out. 

Doesn't she look uncomfortable?!   She sure does to me!

 

Did I move her? ... 

Are you crazy? 

Of course not.  It is one of THE most Basic Parenting rules - "NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING CHILD".  And I'm not a rule-breaker.

 

 

She slept...  for hours.  I was all over Luke to be quiet and not disturb this miraculous event.  I even went so far as to demonstrate the proper way to close a door quietly.  You know, turn the handle, gently close it and then silently release the handle. 

I don't blame him for the bit of noise he was making.  There's been no need for him to tip-toe around a sleeping baby - because, she not of the napping kind.  

 

Good news:  I got a little work done on my little cutsie pillow.

 

Bad news:  She woke up all cranky. 

Too cute

I grabbed my little camera out of my purse to take a quick picture of my sweeties all dressed up this weekend...

We leave in a few days and it's all we can think about!  I have my checklists - outfits - suitcases etc. I found a white dress with black dots and a red sash for myself so I made Sydney that dress to match.  Well, it was too cute to wait out for vacation so she wore it this weekend.  

Sorry guys, I couldn't help but zoom in on her!  Alright... back to packing.

Who knew??

Out of NOwhere - she says...

"you can curl my hair and I have lickslip and you can take pictures of me"

Of course I plug in the iron, press a dress she needs to model, curl her sweet little hair, give a dab of gloss and she was ALL business! 

Maybe a little too serious and pose-y but I clicked away - she was such a doll!  I thanked her a million times and she said..

"I can put my other dress on and take some more" - of course.

"and I need these things"... (we have props)

So we posed with the iron bird she loves so much and the Barbie Blowdryer ~~

We cleaned up out back and were waiting for Daddy.  Those moments are full of anticipation.  She tells me all the things she has in store for him, tales of her day she can't wait to share!  I knew it would be a few more minutes but I couldn't get her off the porch - so patiently she waits...

With brief trips to the end of the driveway just to get a better perspective...

Smitten

I just love this little girl! 

I barely finish up the set- still need to take the photos and I'm losing light fast.  She's tired, cranky and wants to play inside with Luke.  When I ask her to put this on for some pictures she gets a huge grin- "YEAH" and heads for the door.  She even let me do ponies which she has banned for a time being because she likes her hair looooong. 

She looks so cute in this red!  It livens her up and she just looks happy.  I'm more than in love with her... I'm *smitten*

p.s. Aren't these the cutest shoes ever!  I picked them up the day before at a local kids boutique Hush Baby.  They just opened last week and were having a 15% off sale.  Sydney did not want to leave that store!!  They have an awesome movie room with bean bags and Finding Nemo playing on a big plasma screen. They even have weekly story-time and face painting-  I'm sure we'll be back!
